MY "MARY ROSE "

l bought this rose about 4 years ago.- lt was in a Hardware Store -of all places

l went in with hubby to buy nails and paint, and sitting in a wooden box were these dry rooted roses, with plastic like stuff tied around their roots. They were on special, and they looked pretty darn sick.
l looked at the tag with this beautiful coloured pink rose on it, with the name "Mary "

l had to save it !
And l did, isn't it just beautiful now, l think it says "Thank You " with every flower that blooms

CHAUFFERED BY THE OWNER OF A 1951 AMERICAN MERCURY SLED

We feel very privileged at times.
Our son, and his almost, lovely bride Sonia, have given us 2 tickets to see the 3 tenors (  impersonators )
at the beautiful Olive grove Restaurant. lncluded on the ticket an A La Carte 3 Course Meal.

As you can imagine we were so excited, dressing in our best attire, deciding not to  eat lunch so that l could enjoy it more..
About 30 minutes before we were to leave, our son Jody came around and said " Mum and Dad, we have another surprise for you, - you are going to be chauffeured "
This beautiful car pulled up driven by Jody's friend Steve.
This left hand drive, 1951 Mercury Sled, was imported from America.
Painted with dark purple flames (that you can't see very well in the photo's ) his car was simply gleaming

Also with air bag suspension this unique car is valued at $100,000.

My hubby, Steve, and our son Jody
When the Show finished, around midnight, our chauffeur Steve was there to pick us up.
Another beautiful memory to keep !

THE BEST CHAIR TO SIT ON -- OR MAYBE JUST TO ADMIRE IT ?

A nice chair can really give character to a room.
(More magazine pages l have saved )
Well would you like to look at them ?
l think we will start with a beachy chair, l can sit on this one and pretend that l'm down by the beach.
l have just collected some seashells,  and l can feel the sea breeze on my face

CHRISTMAS IS COMING, - AND THE GEESE ARE GETTING FAT

CHRISTMAS IS COMING, AND THE GEESE ARE GETTING FAT

PLEASE TO PUT A PENNY IN THE OLD MANS HAT;

IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT A PENNY, A  HA'PENNY WILL DO

IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT A HA'PENNY THEN GOD BLESS YOU!

This" Old English Charitable Nursery Rhyme "
holds a lot of meaning. The lyrics of the song were to associate the Christmas fayre.

The meaning that was conveyed to a child was that the festive period was where each give
to charity, according to their means --- even if they could only give their blessing.

l love , love love Christmas !
Here are some of my favourite family photos

GARDEN SCULPTURES -LIVING and the UNUSUAL

There are so many forms of garden sculpture
Some people might think Topiary is the go, or sculptures made of steel, but sometimes l look at a persons front door entrance, and l think of it as a sculpture. The way they have worked with their bricks, tiles or just an arty pot
Over the years l am always pulling things out of magazines just because l like them and don't want them to be thrown away with the magazine.

This is just a simple heart made of wire

l love this feature made from old bricks,it looks very arty, and the flowers look sculptured inside the bricks

This fountain, that looks like a door is great, so are the Mediterranean colours. They look old worldy before the garden is even started

The Topiary Fir ( Conifer ) Trees leading to the front door really make a statement.
So do the pillars on this verandah, the steps and the unique tile work.
This no lawn garden looks as though it has always been there, and although sculptural, very relaxing.

This may look a bit messy, but l like it and l think l'ts very old world looking

THIS TOPIARY BUMBLE BEE,  and the  LOCH  NESS  MONSTER -  are just  EXQUISITE

This white pot with the lemon tree in it, to me is so simple and achievable,. The little pansy's around it make it so pretty. That's it, l have a large white pot this will be my next venture.

What a  lovely place to sit down in a cool spot     - with some special family or friends -,   .Even if the flowers in the water table bowl were just a day theme, freshly picked it wouldn't matter. although l think in this photo they might be permanent. -  We need some iced tea. or maybe a glass of Cienna. -

Isn't he so clever, l think l could make him from old guttering off the roof, and mayb,e fill him with some cacti - no, l think l like him just like that.
